DISH network is a leading brand name in satellite broadcasting communications. It is the baby of EchoStar Communications Corporations, a publicly held company headquartered in Englewood, Colorado.

EchoStar was established in the year 1980. It was the realization of the dream of the chairman and CEO, Charlie Ergen, then a distributor of C-band TV systems. He along with his wife Cantey and friend JamesDeFranco formed the EchoStar Communications Corporation. From its inception, the company made customer service and state of the art technology a top priority. As the employees, the managerial team and the CEO worked towards a common goal of customer satisfaction, it was not long before EchoStar began to grow exponentially. In the year 1987, one year after inventing the world’s first UHF remote control, EchoStar applied for a DBS (Direct Broadcast Satellite) license with the FCC. The license was granted in the year 1992 and it was a matter of time before EchoStar began to invest time and resources in providing its own DBS service. In the year 1995, the goal materialized with the birth of EchoStar1, also popularly known by the brand name DISH network

The next ten years witnessed rapid strides in the development of the DISH Network. In the year 1999, DISH Network released the DISH 500, the world premier and only 500-channel satellite TV system. DISH Network created a record of sorts by launching the HDTV satellite in the month of January 2000. HDTV is a new digital standard for television, offering a high resolution picture quality and a wider aspect ratio (the proportion of width to height of the TV screen). By 2004, DISH Network had become the first satellite TV service to provide local channels to the entire USA. In the same year, DISH Network reached their 10 million customer milestone

Today the nine satellites that make up the EchoStar fleet have the capacity to offer hundreds of channels of digital video, audio and information based services through the DISH Network to homes, offices and organizations throughout the United States. DISH NETWORK is proud to be the customers’ preferred option for the lowest all-digital TV in the country. With the launch of the famous DISH Player -DVR 942, the first multi-room satellite TV receiver, all we can say is that DISH Network is breaking new grounds in digital entertainment.

Through the last 26 years since its inception and particularly after the birth of the DISH Network, EchoStar has worked its level best to maintain its brand image among the public. By virtue of its brand name and its mergers with communication giants like Earthlink and SBC, DISH Network was able to offer adequate amount of discounts, price-cuts and services in a variety of customized packages.

DISH Network has also been ranked no.1 among cable and satellite TV subscribers by J.D. Power and Associate in the month of August 2004. In fact, it was for the third time in the last six years that DISH Network had achieved the coveted position. With employee strength of 20,000, EchoStar and DISH network has been committed to excellence in customer service and progress of Direct Broadcast Satellite around the world.

Since the satellite industry matures and expands like never before giving opportunities for employment and entertainment, every body associated with it will continue to benefit in a bigger manner. DISH Network was responsible for popularizing the high definition television and the digital video recording. There is still more to come from the market leader in satellite broadcasting communication in terms of services and choices for television content.
