To the Kaptain or anyone else that can help…..I am moving from Illinois to Wisconsin next week and have been informed that Charter Cable seems to be my only option there…it seems that they will offer the same cable package and internet services as Comcast did for me in Ill. with what I belive is a little overpriced for waht you get….I am very intrested in switching to a dish, but have some ?s I was hoping someone on this board can answer….my first question is to those who have had both…is it worth it to swtich to a dish…..secondly….I had a friend with a dish (dont remember the kind) and for the basic channels (abc, nbc, cbs, fox) he received three of each, one from LA, Chicago and NY… I was wondering if this is standard in DISH TV….if so, would I be able to tune into, lets say Chicago’s CBS on a Sunday afternoon and watch the Bears game or would the game be blacked out and an NFL Ticket package or something similar purchased….I am a huge sports fan and also wondered if DISH TV ever add new channels as standard…I am thinking of ESPNU in particular….is it possbile iwth a dish to purchase singular channells by themselves…

anything else you think I should know would be appreciated, thanks in advance for any help you can offer

Hi, I agree cable is over priced… and in my opinion it is better to get a Dish.

Your friend that received three different locals… well he was lucky. The way the government has regulated Satellite TV Providers means, if they can provide you with your local stations (They can for Almost Everyone Now) you can only receive those local stations. If they can’t provide you with local stations, then that makes you eligible for distant locals (New York and LA) It’s not even a choice…

Neigther Dish Network, Directv will allow you to add just one channel to a package, UNLESS it is a premium Movie or Sports channel, ie; NFL Sunday Ticket.

In my opinion, Dish Network has the best deals… Free DVR’s, Free HD Receivers and the programming is priced more affordable.

However, Directv will be offering Free DVR’s starting in August 2005, but the programming is still a little higher than DISH.

What i noticed in your post was, that you are a Major Sports Fan and Directv has the NFL Sunday Ticket and that is a major advantage that Dish Network can’t touch.

I hope this helped and if you have anymore questions let me know. OH.. and sorry it took me so long to respond.
