Satellite TV Offers HD 811 is Free from Dish» HD 811 is Free from DishDish Network Offered What Cable Couldn’t: An HDTV 811… FREE! It was during the waiting period to have my cable television service installed that I noticed a flyer on the front door of my apartment. It was from a place called Dish Network, offering to install satellite television service in my apartment. I was intrigued. I called Dish Network to find out a little more about their service, and a whole new world opened up to me. The Dish Network representative (I like to call her “The Dish Network Angel”) explained that with my high definition TV, I could have a satellite installed on the outside of my apartment, and would get a high definition receiver to attach to my television. While I listened with wide-eyed wonder, she explained that I had some choices as to which type of receiver I could use. I chose the standard HD-811 receiver. There were not as many options as some of their other receivers, but since it would only be me living in the apartment, it was just fine. With this wonderful receiver I would receive optical Dolby digital output, standard definition and high definition compatibility, and optional analogue & digital off-air local broadcasts. Did I know what all this stuff meant? No! But they were patient enough to explain it all to me. I knew the cable company wasn’t offering anywhere near any of this neat-sounding stuff, and they wanted more money! I was hooked. I called to cancel my appointment with the cable company. There were tears, angry accusations, pleading, it wasn’t pretty. Cable companies don’t like the word “satellite”. In their circle, it’s considered blasphemy. Boyfriends have come and gone, but my Dish Network HD-811 satellite receiver and I have been happy for months now, and I’m predicting a very long-term and satisfying relationship. And the satellite looks cool.
