Question Mailed in by Chirpy about Satellite TV wiring

I’m technically challenged but want to get satellite TV. I have been reading your blog and have the following question. We currently have cable and just had new cable strung throughout our house last year. If we get a dish on the roof, does the installation connect at the same place the outside cable connects or do we have to run all new cable into and through the house?

To Whom it May Concern:

I would like to know if you have a weekly programming guide to go with your service. We currently have Dish T.V. I would like to know what is going on for the week instead of spending my whole time flipping through every channel.

This is a Question Emailed From E. Collins on a telephone connection

Hi Kaptain,
We are building a lake home. We are considering dish or direct tv. Is a regular telephone line a must? Our cell phones are fine for all of our calls, but at the last lake house we had a regular phone because our cell phones were not that dependable. Do you have to have a phone line to use Satalite TV??
Thanks,
E Collins

We have some pines near and I am wondering if they will block reception. Is one Dish vs. Direct better with reception?

TIVO CAN IMPROVE YOUR MARRIAGE

You might be surprised to know that television habit is one of the leading causes of domestic disputes in America. Either the husband is so ensnared by an NFL game that induces the wife to nag him about household chores, or the wife is so smitten with George Clooney that she competes with the husband for the remote. Question from Frank on Dish Network and Moving:

In one week we will be moving to Idaho. Should I leave my existing dish antenna and acquire a new one in Fruitland Idaho or should I take the antenna with us? Is there any economical advantage either way?

We are with the Dish Network. The dish is about six years old and has a single dual -feed feed horn. The dish feeds a single receiver( Upgraded to model dp301d recently). At at our new location we would like to have two receivers. Your comments will be appreciated.

Question from Tom in Sandiego

Im confused over what the current state of receiving new york and la feeds is as of 4/2005. I was under the impression that if your signal was less than grade B with a fixed position outdoor antenna, you could get a waiver from your local stations to have direct or dish provide the network feeds. Is this still true? Ive also been told by a local talk show host I know, that he gets network feeds as a “professional courtesy” since he discusses timely events. How does direct/dish verify this type of arrangement.
