Question Emailed From Joe about his neighbors tree

Dear Sir
I am currently a DirecTV customer who does not have a clear view of the southwestern sky. A neighbors tree blocks the local satellite (119)so that we can not get a strong enough signal to receive local channels. I am hoping the the Dish network may use a different satellite and therefore allow us to get local channels. You represent both companies and therefore may be able to help. We live in Albany, which is just south of Bethel.

Thanks
Joe A.

My Reply:

Hi Joe, I am curious to know the location of your dish. I had the same problem with a neighbors tree and the only thing i had to do is change the location of my dish. I had it mounted on the roof, but it was on the low side… i reinstalled it at the ridge and that took care of my problem.

To answer your question, DISH Network does use the satellite location 119, but it’s not the same satellite. DISH Network has it’s satellite on a different elevation also with the dish setup it is a little slanted sideways and allot of time when you can’t get a strong signal with DIRECTV you can with DISH Network and vise versa.

I would first look at the location of the DIRECTV dish and see if you might be able to raise it to a higher location. If this is not an option, then you could order DISH Network, when the installer shows up they will be able to let you know if they can do better.

Also DISH is offering Free DVR’s and Free 811 HD Receivers.

Let me know if you have more questions and i hope this email helps.

dave
