About 10 million of Direct TV’s customers will have access to this interactive service – wagering and handicapping information for TVG’s tracks. No special subscription or hardware is needed, TVG’s horse racing channel is part of the TOP 60 package that comes for $32 per month. It is in fact no channel in the traditional sense of the word, but sits on the right top of the Channel 405. TVG Horseracing channel is one of the only few real life applications of interactive satellite television service so far, one that many horseracing fans will applaud Direct TV for. Despite the fact that it came after many years of promises, it is finally here – past is forgotten for all the horse racing enthusiasts. Even though only residents of 12 states are allowed to open TVG accounts for wagering, everybody can access the information offered including live odds, track conditions info, scratches and more. WoW, This is going to be big and I’m sure other interactive features are soon to come from DISH Network and DIRECT TV.
Since the merger did not go through they are both going to be coming out with technology integrated services. That will be the new battle ground!
