Hi James, When i first read all about the DVR 522 and DVR 510, i was thinking the same thing.
Are the features these receivers have something that is really useful or just a bunch of fluff.
For Christmas i finally got the DVR 522. I hooked it up and thought i was going to spend the next month learning how to use it.
To my surprise, it was very simple to learn!
Is this a receiver you need?…Well let me say this…Do you need a Microwave Oven? No.. but it sure makes things more convenient.
This is an example of the usefulness of the DVR 522.
Last night I was watching a movie and my wife started talking to me about her day… Normally I would miss a good portion of the movie, but with the DVR , I just hit “Pause” That’s right i was able to pause live TV!
After she was done talking i hit “play” and started watching the movie again. I thought this was great!
Also, you know sometimes while watching a movie the actors might say something and it might not be clear what they said… so, then you can rewind and listen to it again. Yep, rewind live TV!
As time goes on i am finding this receiver is one of the most useful electronics in my home and I haven’t even taken full advantage of all the features the DVR has to offer.
The DVR is one of those components that after you use it a couple of times you wonder how you ever managed without it.

You can’t beet the price and you have nothing to loose.
