Base prices will go up by $2 to $3 effective March. Jade Ekstedt, representative for DirecTV, blamed the higher cost on the programmers for channels they distribute as the prevailing reason for the fee increase. Along with the rising fees for the channels Direct TV is distributing, the satellite TV industry has seen legislation changes bringing in additional costs in the millions.
